\section{Alliance Announces \$50M Regional Innovation Fund}
The Pacific Northwest Innovation Alliance (PNIA) has launched the Cascadia Innovation Fund, a \$50 million initiative designed to accelerate technology startups across Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. The fund, backed by a consortium of regional venture capital firms, corporate partners, and government agencies, represents the largest coordinated investment in Pacific Northwest innovation to date.
``This fund sends a clear signal that the Pacific Northwest is not just a hub for established tech companies, but a launchpad for the next generation of transformative startups,'' said PNIA Executive Director Margaret Chen at the February 8 announcement event in Portland.
The fund will prioritize investments in clean technology, AI applications, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing, with a focus on companies that demonstrate potential for regional economic impact and job creation.

\section{Member Spotlight: Verdant Robotics}
Portland-based Verdant Robotics, an Alliance member since 2023, has secured a \$12 million Series B round led by Sequoia Capital. The company's autonomous agricultural robots use computer vision and precision micro-spraying technology to reduce herbicide use by 95\% while maintaining crop yields.
CEO Tomás Rivera credits PNIA's mentorship program with helping the company refine its go-to-market strategy. ``The connections we made through the Alliance were invaluable. Our lead investor came from an introduction at last year's Catalyst Summit,'' Rivera said.
Verdant has deployed over 200 robots across farms in the Willamette Valley and Central Washington, with expansion into California and British Columbia planned for later this year. The company now employs 85 people, up from 22 when it joined the Alliance.
The company was recently recognized by \textit{Fast Company} as one of the Most Innovative Companies in AgTech for 2026.
