Merged cells (multirow/multicolumn)
Select a rectangle of cells and choose Merge Selected. A horizontal span is copied as \multicolumn. A vertical span is copied as \multirow. Split Selected removes the merge. How to Merge Cells in LaTeX Tables (multirow, multicolumn) explains both commands.
booktabs vs plain lines
The LaTeX style toggle changes the copied rules. Booktabs writes \toprule, \midrule, and \bottomrule and leaves out vertical lines. Classic writes vertical bars and \hline. How to Make Beautiful Tables with booktabs (No Vertical Lines) compares the two.
